Spain ● Costa Blanca
The Costa Blanca
or ‘White Coast’ has traditionally been the favourite destination of
the northern European homebuyer, enticing them with one of the
healthiest living climates in the world. The top international resorts
are Benidorm, Alicante and Torrevieja but for a real treat, take a look
at the traditional fishing ports and seaside towns of Santa Pola,
Guardamar del Segura, Altea, Moriara, Javea and Denia to experience the
relaxed Spanish lifestyle.
The Costa Blanca or Alicante Province has two contrasting areas - to the south are the distant mountains, then the vast fertile plain with its citrus groves, the salt flats and palm forests and finally, a spectacular coastline of superb sandy beaches. The north is in itself a diverse area; it has an ever present mountain curtain, sometimes reaching down to meet the sea, dramatic cliffs and capes, beautiful beaches and hidden coves and then for the explorer, a breathtaking inland mountain landscape and fertile valleys of orchards, nisperos groves and vines.
The Costa Blanca South boasts some of the finest golf courses that Spain has to offer and for the home buyer, it must be one of the most affordable areas in which to live. You will always find an excellent choice of new apartments, townhouses and villas all along the coast from Alicante to the Orihuela area . There is an increasing demand for properies in the popular but less expensive inland farming villages, such as Algorfa, Rojales, Formentera del Segura, Daya Nueva or San Fulgencio, an altogether unspoilt area with a sea of orange and lemon groves, yet often under twenty minutes drive from the coast.
The mountains behind the Costa Blanca North coastline have been nature’s way of limiting development. It also means that property prices, particularly north of Benidorm, tend to be more expensive. Near Altea you'll find properties perched on the mountain slopes and with the added bonus of spectacular sea views. La Cala de Finestrat, Benidorm and Altea are all popular places, or why not visit Javea or Moraira to enjoy the scented country air near the sea.
